An Energetic Foundation for Rolfing: A Bridge between Dr. Rolf's Recipe and the Wisdom of Each Individual's Body **6 Rolf Institute Structural Credits, 34 NCBTC credits** - AW8.08
Instructors: Bob Schrei and Ray McCall Dates: Sat July 12 - Fri July 18, 2008. (Tuesday July 15th is a day off) Location: Best Western Boulder Inn, 770 – 28th Street, Boulder, CO, 303.449.3800 / www.boulderinn.com Cost: $780 (enrollment will be limited to 18 participants)
In this 6-day workshop we will explore an integration of the goals of Dr. Rolf’s work, and an energetic approach, which is simple, accessible, and effective. The approach, SourcePoint Therapy developed by Bob Schrei, aligns and relates a person’s physical body to the energetic blueprint that Dr. Rolf referred to in her book, “Structural Integration”. Utilizing a body scanning technique, we locate blockages, discontinuities, which result in global patterns of dysfunction and compensation. Also, the scan informs the questions: “Where do we start”, “where do we go next” and “When are we done.” This information enables a practitioner to reliably optimize the strategy of a session, be it a basic ten series or a non-formulaic advanced series.
In the workshop participants will exchange a non-formulaic three series.
Bob Schrei is a Certified Advanced Rolfer with 22 years experience, an artist and former Zen teacher. http://sourcepointtherapy.com for more information.
Ray McCall is a Certified Advanced Rolfer with 29 years experience and teaches Basic and Advanced classes in the United States, Europe and Japan.

Developing new kinesthetic edges creates more permeability to our embodied meanings and to resonance with others. R. Kerrick Murray, ACR had this to say: “This workshop explores new ways to blend our clinical SI practices with the insights and techniques of state-of-the-art Continuum. As a result of the class I’ve been successful in eliminating a long-standing sleep apnea problem. I’ve learned to work with clients in new ways that facilitate quicker releases and integration. If you believe that we do indeed ‘rolf’ from our embodiments and you’re curious as to where our work might be heading, sign up for this class. I highly recommend it."
Our time together will include:
The anatomy, physiology and movement of breath.
Combining breath, sound, and slow-spiraled movements as a self-education process in the power of propulsion available within the coiling/uncoiling of our connective tissue.
Integration of the above with the intelligence of touch

A deposit of $150 will secure your place in class. Registration: Contact Jan Sultan or Liesel Orend at 505-753-9744. Credits: Each unit (3 days of class) is approved for 21 IASI Type I CE credits. Three (3) Rolf Institute manipulation credits apply automatically for Rolf Institute members.
Course Description:
This course will teach how to understand, and work with, the biomechanics and soft tissue patterns that cross the neck and pelvis. This study will serve to deepen the economy and effectiveness of the structural integration practice. There will be visuals, lectures, and handouts for each unit of the class.
The class will be in 3- three day units. You may take any one of the units or all 3 of them. I recommend taking the first one for orientation to the material, and then eithe,r or both, of the next two.
Unit 2 (August 15 - 17, 2008): Deepening studies on the dorsal and ventral aspects of the soft tissue and osseous interactions of the pelvis.
Unit 3 (October 10-12 2008): Deepening studies on the interrelationships of the head, neck, and thoracic outlet.
Each class day will begin at 9am and finish at 5:30. We will take lunch from 12:30 to 2pm. We will not have any mid morning or afternoon breaks. That will make an 8 hour day.
Cancellation Policy: Cancellations up to two weeks before class will receive a full refund. Cancellations after that will forfeit the deposit.
Housing Information: Housing and transportation information will be provided upon registration.
Instructor Biography: Jan Sultan is a student of Ida Rolf, and part of the original group of instructors she selected to teach and develop the work.
Trauma Resolution: Psychoneurobiological and Shamanic Approaches to Healing Trauma
Instructor: William Smythe, M.A., is a pioneer in the field of somatic psychology. For almost three decades, Bill has been practicing and teaching Rolfing Structural Integration with influences from Somatic Experiencing, Biodynamic Craniosacral Therapy, Native American Shamanism, and being a 3rd degree black belt in Aikido. Dates: September 11 – 14, 2008 Location: Santa Fe, NM Tuition: $600
The effects of trauma are far-reaching: chronic pain, anxiety, dissociation, mental confusion, and emotional dysregulation. Most importantly, coherence between mind, brain, and body is disrupted leading to one’s inability to function from instinct and connect with the witness. The relational field of practitioner/client can facilitate a reconnection to wholeness through the right use of presence, resonance, and attunement. This workshop will explore the science and art of healing trauma. Participants will learn theoretical and practical skills to resolve traumatic symptoms and retrieve lost parts of the Self.
Visceral Manipulation for Structural Integrators - Module 1 **4 elective credits Instructor:Jeff Burch, has been a Rolfer for 30 years. He is trained to the instructor level in Visceral Manipulation, and has indepth training in several directions of cranial manipulation.is teaching consistently gets rave reviews. Dates: October 23 - 26, 2008 Location: 880 Nantucket Avenue, Eugene, Oregon Tuition: $500 per module
Part 1 of a 5 part series providing in depth instruction in Visceral Manipulation and how to integrate VM into structural integration practice. This series of courses will boost your SI practice to new quantum levels of efficiency and effectiveness. The internal organs of the thorax, abdomen and pelvis all attach to the musculoskeletal system, thus their supporting membranes and ligaments are a central part of the connective tissue matrix of the body. In many instances the internal organ support membranes are more powerful entry points for influencing the alignment and mobility of the body than are the myofascia or superficial fascia. The several assessment methods used in visceral manipulation complement the classical assessment methods used in structural integration. They are entirely applicable to the mofascia. Learning these assessment methods is like adding MRI, CT scans and Ultrasound to the conventional x rays available in the first half of the 20th century. Decision making about what to do next in each structural integration session becomes quick and precise.
Prerequisites:
~ Graduation from a structural integration school eligible for membership in the International Alliance of Structural Integrators.
~ Previous exposure to VM from any source.
~ Current licensure to practice where applicable.
~ Current malpractice insurance.
Title of Workshop: Breathing and Walking: Movement Education to Support the Structural Integration Series Instructor: Mary Bond, Mary is a member of the Movement Faculty and is the author of The New Rules of Posture: How to Sit, Stand and Move in the Modern World and Balancing Your Body, A Self-help Approach to Rolfing Movement. Dates: November 10 - 12, 2008 Location: Bellingham, WA Tuition: $450 / Full tuition paid before Oct. 10, 2008 is $450; $475 after Oct 10. Credits: 3 Movement / 21 Type I IASI credits
This workshop focuses on the educational aspect of our interactions with clients--ways to engage clients in helping themselves sustain the benefits of their structural changes. The workshop is designed for practitioners looking for practical movement interventions to compliment structural work, improved skill in assessing functional restrictions, and help with evocative languaging. We will explore the fundamentals of a sensory approach to movement education with respect to the basic human activities of breathing and walking. The workshop will include theoretical presentation, experiential group work, body reading and brief practitioner exchanges.
To register for workshop: Brad Jones , 360-255-1557, Brad@rolfingbellingham.
A deposit of $125 holds a place, refundable if registration is cancelled before Oct. 10, 2008.
Integrative Procedures of the Ten Series
Instructor: Monica Caspari Date: Novemvber 30 – December 1, 2008 Location: Sydney, Australia Tuition: A$400 Credits: 2 RI Manipulation credits Integrative procedures (neck work, pelvic lift and back work) are so important to the whole Rolfing process that we systematically "repeat" them session after session. However, for these procedures to be more effective for the client (as well as more interesting for the practitioner), they should not simply be repeated. Instead, they need to be coherent both with the structural and functional goals of each session of the Recipe as well as with the client’s individual needs. In this two days workshop we will recap the structural and functional goals of the Recipe and explore the uniqueness of the integrative interventions in each of the sessions, taking into account the ideas of orientation to the substratum and to space, as well as the individual’s personal needs.
