Upcoming Advanced Training Opportunities

The Dr. Ida Rolf Institute (DIRI) Advanced Rolfing® training is a professional development course designed for experienced Structural Integration (SI) practitioners who are ready to elevate their practice.

Whether you’re a Certified Rolfer® or a graduate of an IASI-approved training program, this training will refine your skills, deepen your understanding, and enable you to step into a more fluid, responsive approach to client work.

The program is grounded in principle-centered decision-making and advanced techniques that free you from relying on formulas. You’ll learn to meet the individual needs of each client with greater ease, precision, and effectiveness.

In Advanced Rolfing® training you will study:

  • How to mobilize all major joints within a holistic SI framework
  • Exploring visceral structures and internal body cavities
  • Enhancing evaluation skills through structural, functional, and energetic taxonomies
  • How to refine your touch with energetic, direct, and indirect techniques
  • Developing long-distance sensing and presence-based awareness
  • How to replace rigid protocols with principle-centered, individualized decision-making

Who Can Enroll in Advanced Rolfing® Training?

Certified Rolfers®:

Advanced Training is required between 3 and 7 years after initial certification (or within 9 years if you complete your Rolf Movement® Certification first). This ensures your continued development and supports DIRI's higher professional standards.

If you cannot meet this timeline, contact the DIRI Executive Director to request a review by the Board of
Directors.

Non-DIRI Structural Integration Practitioners:

Non-Rolfers who are graduates of IASI-approved training programs are welcome to apply to the Advanced Rolfing® Course. Upon completion of the Advanced Training and Rolf Movement® Certification, you'll be eligible for full DIRI membership and advanced certification.

Enrollment Requirements for Certified Rolfers®

These continuing education requirements support your professional growth and prepare you for success in the advanced training program.

  1. Certification as a Rolfer™.
  2. A minimum of three years in Rolfing® practice.
  3. The accumulation of 18 Intermediate Continuing Education credits within 7 years of graduating. One credit is given for each day (at least 7.5 class hours) of a workshop. Intermediate Continuing Education credits are required as follows:
  • 10 Required Intermediate CE Course Credits (75 hours), taught by Rolf Institute faculty members/instructors.
  • 5 Required CE Movement Credits (37.5 hours), taught by Rolf Institute Rolf Movement faculty members.
  • 3 Elective CE Course Credits (22.5 hours)

Note: Any credits earned towards completion of the prerequisites for the AT program under the previous DIRI CE policy for manipulation, cranial-sacral, and Rolf Movement Integration will be grandfather/mothered in and accepted as pre-requisites for the Advanced Training.

While the Required Intermediate CE course credits are designed to prepare one for the Advanced Training and comply with the prerequisites for enrollment, the Required Intermediate CE courses may also be taken for elective credit as part of ongoing CE training.

In order to maintain affiliation with The Rolf Institute, this course must be completed within seven years of initial Rolfing certification, or within nine years if one first completes the Rolf Movement Integration training.

If an applicant has not completed the 18 CE credits required for admission to the Advanced Training they may request a waiver for the missing credits. The decision to approve or not approve is at the discretion of the Instructor.

Upload CE Credits in the DIRI Members Portal

Log in to the DIRI Members Portal and follow the instructions under “Continuing Education” to enter classes and upload certificates. (If you have a letter from a Mentor who was able to grant movement credits, upload that as your certificate. 7.5 hours = 1 CE credit)

Enrollment Requirements for Non-DIRI SI Practitioners

If you are not a member of the Dr. Ida Rolf Institute, but have completed an IASI-approved SI program, you are eligible to apply for Advanced Training. Upon completing the full training path, you’ll become a Certified Advanced Rolfer™ and a full member of DIRI.

Applicants must meet the following requirements:
